Job Description

The BD Consultant will identify and build relationships with top-tier candidates in the accounting and financial services profession (CPAs and traditional financial advisors) with the intent of vetting them for an affiliation or consulting engagement with 1st Global. The vetting process will assess a candidate’s verifiable qualifications, their commitment to achieving a significant wealth management entity and how coachable they are to learn and adopt our methodology and practices.
 

Primary success measure: Consistently meet or exceed written firm affiliation goals

Key activities to do so:

1) Build a pipeline of candidates within each territory by:

  • Conducting outbound warm and cold-calls
  • Responding to requests to learn more about our capabilities (typically generated by online advertising and promotions)
  • Receiving referrals from existing relationships/clients of 1st Global
  • Conducting Presentations (live or via web)
  • Attending industry conferences and events
  • Creating and communicating written marketing collateral targeted to their needs that encourages them to learn more about our capabilities

2)  Develop a deep understanding of our sales process (QCC) to properly assess the fit of a candidate to our culture and vision:

  • Qualification – firm revenue, # partners, # tax clients, office locations, clean background, minimal regulatory risks, comparable firm culture
  • Committed – The willingness and desire to dedicate the necessary resources and time in developing a leading, highly profitable wealth management entity with a minimum of $75k year 1 and $1M+ in recurring revenue within 7 years.
  • Coachable – The attitude and behavior necessary to listen and interact positively with 1st Global Consultants and support staff while executing the agreed-upon business

3)  Document detailed notes and activities in CRM and report each week during team meetings

4) Create and Manage internal and external relationships

  • Stay aware of each department’s system and product enhancements by attending project and product meetings
  • Build relationships with individuals throughout the company to learn more about them and their role(s) within the company
  • Be genuinely engaging and interested in serving others
  • Participate in activities/committees…Lead from the front!
  • Actively develop and cultivate relationships with industry Consultants, wholesalers, existing clients, Field Support Leaders

5)  Maintain technical and industry knowledge

  • Subscribe to all known leading industry periodicals and newsletters
  • Attend technical sessions of AICPA and leading Accounting Networking Association Events
  • Commit to learning all 1s t Global products and capabilities: attend Financial Consulting product calls, webcasts, live presentations. Attend Compliance and Operations departmental meetings.


Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Marketing or equivalent work experience Required

Licenses/Certifications Required:
• Series 7

Minimum Specific Experience Required:
7-10 years of experience in business development, sales, or product marketing 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Exceptional organizational skills required.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills required.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Must be a team player, but prioritize jobs independently.
• Must have strong computer skills, including expert proficiency in MS Office applications.
