Job Description

Summary of Position:
As a member of this team, the Fixed Income Trader uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to provide trading and sales support for various types of fixed income investments. The primary responsibilities of the position encompass bidding and trading bonds, creating customized bond portfolios and providing analysis and information to advisors and internal partners regarding various types of bonds or related market movement.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Partners with advisors to accurately design and implement customized portfolios that fit client’s needs.
• Executes fixed income trades in an accurate and timely manner
• Assists in the management of multiple fixed income portfolios on a discretionary basis.
• Answers telephones and email inquiries for quotes, orders and product information.
• Researches developments in the capital markets in order to provide our advisors with educated and accurate explanations and advice.
• Other duties as assigned 
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or General Business
• FINRA Series 7, 66 Required
• 5+ years of general financial market experience
• 3+ years fixed income market experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• FINRA Series, 53 a plus
• CFA, CAIA, CIMA, FRM designations a plus
• Post graduate education a plus
• Familiarity with NFS FBSI product, Streetscape, Bloomberg, Envestnet, KCG BondPoint and TMC
• A positive and professional attitude in combination with a high level of integrity and ethical standards
• A solid understanding of the fixed income markets, products and trends in order to provide accurate and superior service to our advisors
• An understanding of the current regulatory environment and requirements including TRACE and MSRB as they relate to trading
• Able to communicate complicated financial investment concepts and strategies in a patient, clear and concise manner
• Having personal accountability and willing to take ownership of issues to resolution
• Strong analytical skills and initiative, with a high degree of organizational, relationship building, and presentation skills
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize jobs independently in a fast paced environment
• Strong technical skills, including expert proficiency in MS Office applications
• Must be a team player, but also able to work independently.
• Comfortable in presenting to internal and external audiences of any size
